Loch Ness Highland Lodges
Loch Ness Highland Lodges is perfectly situated
with a vast range of activities, including:
Cruises
Embark at one of several points on the loch to view Urquhart Castle and the Great Glen from the best vantage point - the loch! There are several cruise companies offering day, evening and dinner trips and of differing durations. Most offer a mixture of factual information and time to enjoy the wonderful surrounding scenery and most probably mention will be made of “Nessie”, the loch’s most discussed inhabitant.
Sailing
Nestled on the banks of Loch Ness, with direct access from our private beach, our owners who enjoy sailing and watersports could not be better suited.
Riding
Set amidst magnificient scenery just outside of the twin villages of Lewiston and Drumnadrochit is the Highland Riding Centre which gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy the excellent facilities available and take part in one of the many rides on offer, catering for all abilities.
Dolphin Trips
Not many areas can boast possible dolphin sightings, however the Moray Firth houses seals and bottlenose dolphins, which you may be lucky enough to encounter during a trip out. Dolphin Trips run from April to October and operate up to six trips a day, during which you may see anything from ospreys and otters to seals, dolphins, porpoise, buzzards and peregrines in safety and comfort.
Alternatively, opt for an evening trip out on the Moray Firth and enjoy a BBQ and some fine wine whilst watching the sun go down. "Sundowners" is the perfect evening out with a difference.
Fishing
Owners within our development have access and special fishing permit rates for fresh water fishing on Loch Ness. For the more adventurous, our location is only thirty minutes from harbours that can offer sea fishing.
Hunting/Shooting
The Highlands is reknowned for the quality and variety of it's gun sports facilities. For hunters we are central to a number of hunting and stalking estates, for those who refer the enjoyment of shooting clays we are equally well positioned.
Walking
This stunning piece of Scotland obviously lends itself to some amazing walks; the following is only one example:
A family walk from the village of Drumnadrochit , on the north shore of Loch Ness . Drumnadrochit is the main Monster-spotting centre, so carry your binoculars and camera. The walk climbs to the viewpoint on Craigmonie then goes on to the Divach Falls , returning by a slightly different route. You begin at the car park in the village centre, go along two streets, then climb Craigmonie Hill (150m) through mixed woodlands, on good, often narrow, paths. There are strategically placed seats... The view from the viewpoint, looking over the village to Urquhart Bay and Loch Ness, is superb. The few remains of the Iron Age fort are a few metres above the viewpoint. After descending into the valley of the River Coiltie there is a steep climb, on a road, to reach the Divach Falls . Return to the car park is by a shorter route. Overall there are some steepish sections, but, not hurrying, it`s an easy family walk.
Other activities available in the surrounding areas: golf, cycling, karting, ski-ing and rafting.
